Veganes Zwiebel-Apfel-Schmalz zum Selbermachen

Schmalz…das Wort klingt sehr unvollständig, eintönig und wenig kreativ. Mit Schmalz kann man viel anstellen, mich hat damals schon alleine der Gedanke daran abgeschreckt. Doch letztens, in einem Bio-Markt, fiel mit eines in veganer Ausführung in die Hand. Ich zögerte kurz, doch dann war es schon gekauft. Ich muss euch jetzt nicht davon berichten, wie skeptisch ich das Glas öffnete und wie viel Überwindung ich aufbringen musste, um den ersten Bissen vom Schmalzbrot zu wagen. Es hat sich aber gelohnt. Das Glas war innerhalb einer Woche vollständig aufgebraucht. Dann beschloss ich, veganes Schmalz versuche ich mal selber zu zubereiten.

Ein veganes Zwiebel-Apfel-Schmalz ist nicht so schwer herzustellen, wie man es sich vielleicht vorstellt. Ein paar Zutaten werden benötigt und dann kann die Zubereitung auch schon losgehen.

Zwiebel-Apfel-Schmalz (vegan)

Für 1 Glas -500 g Inhalt.
Folgende Zutaten werden benötigt:
1 Zwiebel
1 Apfel
100 g Sonnenblumenöl + 2-3 EL
200 g Kokosöl gedämpft
1/2-1 TL Meersalz
1 TL Majoran, getrocknet
1 TL Bohnenkraut, getrocknet

Außerdem:
Pfanne
Topf
Steriles Glas

Zubereitung:

Apfel und Zwiebel schälen, das Kerngehäuse vom Apfel entfernen und beides in kleine Stücke/Würfel schneiden.
2-3 EL Sonnenblumenöl in einer Pfanne erhitzen. Die Zwiebelwürfel drin goldbraun andünsten. Apfelwürfel hinzugeben und für 1 Minute mit dünsten. Die Pfanne vom Herd nehmen.

Einen Topf aufsetzten und das Kokosöl hineingeben und schmelzen lassen. Das Sonnenblumenöl und die Gewürze unterrühren. Zwiebel- und Apfelwürfel unterheben und alles in ein steriles Glas füllen.

Das Glas verschließen und in den Kühlschrank stelle. Jede Stunde bewegen und undrehen, damit sich die Stücke nicht nur am Boden absetzen. Nach ungefähr 5 Stunden ist das Zwiebel-Apfel-Schmalz fertig.

Kann gleich verwendet werden oder erst später.
Monatelang haltbar, wenn es im Kühlschrank gelagert wird.
Sehr lecker auf Brot.
